This November AILA are pleased to announce that they will be holding 2 events. These events are open to all LNA members and AILA would be delighted to see you there.
Parramatta River Cruising
AILA NSW and AILA Fresh are hosting an exciting and informative journey along the Parramatta River. The cruise will feature short discussions specific to landscape architectural considerations along the Parramatta River. The discussions will encompass issues such as environmental challenges development pressures and opportunities, contamination impacts, PRCGs Living River initiative and stories from influential landscape architects involved in major projects along the river. Some of the questions under consideration include:
How can development along the river be managed to enhance the city's liveability?
What is the role of landscape architects and allied professionals in balancing the demands of development with beauty and environmental quality along the Parramatta River?
Where does the importance of the visual riparian landscape come into the river's management?
This promises to be a highly enjoyable and informative cruise with diverse and vigorous discussion well worth the effort of attendance.
As an added bonus, iGuzzini have offered to host everyone for cocktails and canapes after the cruise so the conversations can continue!
When: Friday 11th November from 12.45pm to 5pm
Time: The arrival time is 12.45pm for prompt cruise departure at 1pm.
Where: The cruise will depart from King Street Wharf 9 and will return to iGuzzini at Jones Bay Wharf for cocktails and canapes.

Shaping the Built Environment of the 21st Century
This seminar will take the form of a series of presentations on research topics which will be of concern to landscape architects. The framework for the presentations will be set by Beck Dawson, the Chief Resilience Officer for Metropolitan Sydney.
The presentation topics include: resilient cities; shaping suburbia; urban heat, health and public space; and, a guide to urban cooling strategies.
When: Thursday the 24th November
