At the 2017 NSW Training Awards geld at Sydney Town Hall on 7 September 2017, staff of LNA Members were recognised for their amazing achievements in the VET (Vocational Education & Training) environment. These Awards celebrate the outstanding achievements of people undertaking VET training in NSW.
And the winners are:
2017 School-Based Apprentice/Trainee of the Year: Mark Doughty from Skyline Landscape Services. Certificate III Parks & Gardens
2017 Apprentice of the Year: Jordan Cahill from The Gardenmakers. Certificate III Landscape Construction
Mark Doughty won the School-Based Apprentice/Trainee of the Year for his outstanding achievements of juggling school and work and has excelled academically. Mark is an energetic, determined and reliable Apprentice who loves giving back to his community as well as working and studying. He volunteers doing landscaping work at his school, in local parks and for St Vincent de Paul. Congratulations Mark, and thank you to Skyline Landscape Services for supporting Mark through his studies.
Jordan Cahill won the Apprentice of the Year. Jordan has won multiple Worldskills competitions and has been invited to join their judging and leadership teams. Earlier this year Jordan completed a work-based scholarship in the U.K. and worked at he prestigious Chelsea Flower Show as part of the scholarship. He shows an incredible talent for landscape construction and is an integral part of The Gardenmakers Team. Congratulations Jordan and thank you to The Gardenmakers for supporting Jordan during his Apprenticeship.
Both Mark and Jordan will now represent NSW as finalists in the Australian Training Awards which are the peak national awards for VET recognising innovation and excellence in the training sector. By becoming a finalist in the Australian Training Awards, Mark and Jordan become national ambassadors for VET. Good luck with the Australian Awards which will be held in Canberra in November 2017.
