LNA 2017 Annual General Meeting

We would like to thank all Corporate Partners and members who attended our LNA 2017 Annual General Meeting hosted by Gold Corporate Partner Alpine Nurseries at the gorgeous Eden Gardens. 

The AGM was well attended by members who took the opportunity to witness the appointment of the New 2017/18 Board. 

As a testament to the health of the association and its leadership all reports were approved and acknowledged by the membership. 

To commence the meeting, Judy Bates, LNA Chairwoman welcomed all attendees and special guest to the AGM. Judy then began to cover the LNA's activity over the past year. 

The LNA has:

  • Welcomed 53 new members (and counting) 
  • Attended 3 careers expos to create more exposure to the landscaping industry and make young people aware of landscaping as a career
  • Moved the member meetings around to various venues across Sydney to enable more members to attend and network 
  • Moved premises to reduce costs 
  • Appointed a new CEO - Julie Krieger 
  • Welcomed 5 new corporate partners (Gosford Quarries, Botanica Nurseries, Universal Magazines, Ideal Edging and Landscape Contractor.

With the formalities out of the way, there was an invitation to take questions, from the floor about the previous minutes from the 2016 AGM and financial concerning the LNA that had been circulated via the LNA website before the meeting. There were no forth-coming questions and the minutes were seconded by Kevin Gallagher of OzScape Pty Ltd and LNA Board Member Steven Brown of Etienne Lawyers. 

As part of General Business of the LNA, the LNA Landscape Excellence Awards was spoken abotu to remind members that there are limited tickets available and encouraging members to book soon to avoid missing out. This year's ceremony is our biggest ever and is set to be an outstanding night. With this the 2017/18 Board was announced. As there were 8 nominations received and 8 places on the board and 2 invited places, a ballot was not necessary and in accordance to the constitution the members nominated and elected are: 

  • Judy Bates of TAFE NSW Ryde - Northern Sydney Institute
  • Matthew Beckett of Reflective Gardens 
  • Ron Berkelmans of Good Manors Pools + Gardens
  • Josh Harrison of Harrisons Landscaping 
  • Matt Leacy of Landart Landscapes 
  • Mike Platt of Design Landscapes 
  • Chris Richardson of Skyline Landscape Services 
  • Daniel Cusack of Revive Landscapes 
  • Martin Rolfe of Foxy's Landscapes 
  • Steven Brown of Etienne Lawyers

At this point the formal proceeding concluded and Judy then welcomed Peter Knox of Alpine Nurseries and Matthew Glascott of Glascott Landscapes & Civil to the stage for a Q&A Session on Growing your Business. The Q&A session forum shed light on growing your business in the Landscape Industry, how to keep good staff and general business knowledge and experience from both of the industry-leading speakers, each of whom have managed and grown successful businesses over many years. 

The conduct and spirit of the 2017 AGM was positive and vibrant with members commenting on ti being a valuable and insightful meeting. 

The catering was generously supplied by Alpine Nurseries.
