The newly established Complaints register was announced by the NSW Department of Fair Trading on 28 July 2016.
NSW Fair Trading has begun regularly collecting data on business in NSW who have received more than 10 complaints issued against them.
Fair Trading Commissioner Rod Stowe reported that in the recent months his department had been dealing with different traders who have had a high number of complaints issued against them. "Several businesses have already taken steps to avoid appearing on the register, including allocating more resources to dispute resolution and inviting Fair Trading to conduct training programs for their employees," Mr Stowe said.
The list will help consumers with making a choice of who they buy and trade with based on the business reputation. The report will be posted monthly for public use.
The first complaints register will be up late August and will be available to all consumers at www.fairtrading.nsw.gov.au
