The LNA are delighted to announce that the LNA's Titanium Corporate Partner Husqvarna Australia's sponsored Chelsea Show Garden has been awarded a Silver Gilt Medal for the second year running at Chelsea Flower Show. The show is one of the world's best-loved landscaping and gardening events and is held each year at the Royal Hospital Chelsea in London.
As in 2015, Husqvarna sponsored the garden designed by LNA Ambassador Charlie Albone, in conjunction with LNA Member Conway Landscaping & Design and the team. In collaboration with Conway Landscaping & Design, Charlie and his team of hand-picked crew from Australia chose this year to present a garden designed for a busy corporate couple living in inner-city Melbourne. It offers a space to relax, reflect and retreat from the pressures and speed of modern living.
The silent serenity of the garden is made possible by its features. The hedged entrance leads to a protective-feeling sunken lawn. Exciting exotic plants including Leucadendron, Acacia and Protea, along with European perennials in subtle purple, white, pink and soft red tones will fringe it. The water feature at the back of the garden will send a calming stream of water down the stairs, without splashes or ripples.
Drawing inspiration from its homeland, the garden will feature bluestone cobbles, along with a floating cantilevered architectural structure with geometric patterns reminiscent of Melbourne's Federation Square. A striking copper and bronze sculpture, created by Victorian sculptor Will Wilson of Willie Wildlife, will be positioned at the back of the garden. Earthy tones from the metal, combined with flying birds, epitomise the freedom the garden gives to the couple who use it.
We are thrilled that this year's garden was again such a success and congratulate Husqvarna, Charlie, Conway Landscaping Design and the whole team. What a magnificent effort and a well-deserved result!
