The 2015 Swimming Pool Barrier Review aims to simplify the regulatory framework and encourage greater barrier compliance in order to reduce the incidence of child drownings and near drownings in private pools.
The review will closely examine regulatory frameworks for private pools in NSW and other jurisdictions.
The review is conducted by Mr Michael Lambert, who has extensive knowledge of building regulations and is a former Secretary of NSW Treasury.
To date the review has consulted with local councils, water safety advocates and experts, peak representative bodies, including the swimming pool and spa industry and government agencies. The discussion paper has been released and is available on the link below.
