The Royal Agricultural Society (RAS) of NSW is a great supporter of TAFE NSW and a proud host of this opportunity for the State's students. The completed show gardens will provide a range of ideas, concepts, design trends and inspiration for the public on how they can create their very own show garden.
For the students taking part in these opportunities it provides a valuable educational opportunity and real-life, on-site scenario. It also provides the students with a unique insight into the challenges that professionals face when working on large projects to tight deadlines.
Design skills, teamwork, networking with industry and suppliers, problem solving and project management are just some of the aspects that the students will learn from this experience.
The show garden will be constructed preshow and then judged by panels of experts on opening day of the show Thursday 17 March 2016. There will be a formal presentation ceremony for the competition on the Thursday 17 March 2016 at 2.30pm on the Flower & Garden stage within the Southee Complex.
For the Landscaping Challenge there will also be a "People's Choice Award" providing the opportunity for the public to vote for their favourite garden prior to this awards announcement on Friday 25 March 2016.
The judges will be marking on benchmarks that include; design, workmanship, construction complexity, materials, innovation and plant selection.
