Smart and Skilled is a reform of the NSW vocational education and training system.Qualifications (and part qualifications) which are on NSW Skills lists will have government subsidies ( or VET fee help). Students enrolling in government subsidised courses will have new fee and eligibility arrangements.
Who is eligible?
Australian citizen, permanent resident or humanitarian visa holder, or New Zealand citizen
Aged 15 or older
no longer at school
Living or working in NSW
Also any student registered as a NSW apprentice or New entrant trainee
2015 student fees
Training is described as a shared investment so students and government share cost of training
Fees based on whole of qualification not as annual fees as at present
So what does this mean?
These prices for qualifications are the same, no matter where you go prices are set by the government
Training is going to cost a lot more for our industry
Reduced funding to TAFEs (may be different for private RTOs
